Leh Keen returns as AJR set for another championship run

Alex Job Racing will return to the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón in 2011 with its Porsche 911 GT3 Cup bearing the familiar No. 23. Drivers Bill Sweedler, Leh Keen and Brian Wong will drive the Battery Tender-sponsored entry that will start the season at the 59th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida.

The team – which won two races in 2010 and swept the GTC podium at Sebring – is looking forward to heading back to that historic event with a strong driver lineup.

Sweedler was in the thick of the GTC championship hunt right up to the final event at Road Atlanta. The Connecticut driver posted four podium finishes and was honored at the season ending banquet as the Founders Cup and Yokohama Ladder award winner.

Keen is back in the ALMS after a stellar showing at Sebring in 2010. He was the fastest GTC qualifier and set the 20 fastest race laps in the race.

Brian Wong brings a lot of experience from different types of cars. He has laps in the Porsche GT3 Cup car and competes regularly in the west coast K&N Pro Series for stock cars. In addition, his resume includes runs in the ALMS LMP Challenge cars.

Wong will join the team at selected events including Road Atlanta, Road America, Lime Rock and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and of course Sebring. Team owner Alex Job is preparing his team for Sebring with the goal of winning the historic race an eighth time.

“We have a strong team heading into the 2011 season,” Job said. “Bill is coming back to see if he can get the championship that we were so close to winning last year. Leh is really fast and it was great that we could get him in the car for the majority of the season. He really turned a lot of heads at Sebring last year and that gives us a lot of confidence heading into the season opener in March. Brian brings a wide variety of experience driving Porsches, prototypes and stock cars to the team. We are working hard toward a strong season opener at Sebring.”

It will be hard to top last year’s performance that saw three AJR Porsches run 1-2-3 for the final 78 laps. Of the 367 race laps, the winning Alex Job Porsche of Keen, Butch Leitzinger and Juan Gonzalez led all but six laps.

AJR and the rest of American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will open 2011 at the 59th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida on Saturday, March 19. The race, set for 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 19, will be shown in its live and in its entirety on and ABC will provide coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 20.
