Bill Wood’s Some Things You Should Know: 12-01-17
Here are some Things You Should Know:

Toyota’s all-new 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours contender hit the track for the first time last week. The Japanese manufacturer’s petrol-electric hybrid LMP1 coupe was shaken down over three days at Paul Ricard last week. Alex Wurz did most of the driving. No comment has been forthcoming from Toyota Motorsport GmbH about the test, but it is understood that the car completed several hundred kilometres of largely trouble-free running. All three of the drivers who will race Toyota’s solo entry at Le Mans and in selected rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship this year were on hand at the test. Here’s more:
I’m told the coupe is based on this prototype. 2012 Toyota takes part in several races of the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The competition is based on the vehicle can be seen here LMP1 prototype chassis of TMG and boasts one of the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) developed gasoline-hybrid engine. Currently, the Toyota hybrid LMP1 prototype in Cologne missed the final cut. And then you go too soon on the test or on the racetrack. Here you can see the prototype in his record run at the Nurburgring. (This sounds surreal like the little black car in Cannonball Run that was filled with computers!)
This inboard is from an Andreas Mikkelsen snow test before the first round of Norwegian Rally Championship 2012. It`s the same car he won Scotland and Cyprus with. As a further test for the 2012 season the 2011 IRC champion won the Mountain Rally in Norway last weekend.
Test: 2012 Monte Carlo Thierry Neuville-Nicolas Gilsoul in a Citroen DS3.
More Monte Carlo testing: 2011 WRC Academy champion Craig Breen-Gareth Roberts are in their S2000 Ford Fiesta.
More Monte Carlo testing: This is former Ford and Peugeot factory driver Francois Delecour won the Monte in 1994 in a Ford Escort RS Cosworth.
More Monte Carlo testing: Sebastien Ogier working out his Skoda on tarmac.
Some pictures and an interview (in French!) in preparation for the 2012 Monte Carlo for Sebastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia. They start the championship in 2012 aboard the Skoda Fabia S2000 and in parallel develop the new Polo WRC. Official Volkswagen driver.
Petter Solberg showing off at Tools Haugesund in Norway 2011.08.11. Thanks to Tools Rallyteam and Petter for a great show!
Chelsea DeNofa is the 2010 Xtreme Drift Circuit champion. He ran a part time schedule in 2011 but that may lead to Formula Drift in 2012. But Chelsea is more than drifting. His taste in music to his culinary tastes prove that. Visit with DeNofa before he changed the wrap on his purple BMW he once used to deliver pizzas.
Now, What Do You Think? this week: Who do you think will win the car category in the 2011 Dakar Rally? Robby Gordon, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Stephane Peterhansel, Nani Roma, Giniel De Villiers or Someone Else? You can vote at www.ByBillWood.com. GET BUSY!! Take a minute to vote.
