The Rookie Has Landed… At Atlanta Motorsports Group

Mar. 2, 2011 – ATLANTA, Ga. – A year ago, Scott Shelton was planning his 2010 NASA club racing schedule. After winning the NASA Performance Touring C Championship, Scott won the Mazda Club Racer shootout, earning him a full season in the 2011 Playboy MX-5 Cup.

Scott Shelton will drive for AMG in 2011.

After talking with all of the leading teams, Scott determined that the Atlanta Motorsports Group was his best option. He summarized his decision process as; “There are a number of great teams in this series. I made the decision based upon the chemistry with the guys, and our shared goals of success. I am hoping to win Rookie of the Year in 2011, and go for the championship in 2012.”

The MX-5 Cup series champion is promoted to a series above via the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Ladder. 2010 MX-5 Cup Champion Brad Rampelberg is currently racing a MAZDASPEED3 in the 2011 GRAND-AM Continental Tire Challenge.
