For the past several seasons, Orange County, California-based Global Motorsports Group has defined European car performance in the competitive sprint racing of SPEED World Challenge, campaigning Porsche GT3 Cup cars. This year, in addition to their World Challenge schedule, GMG will enter into its second season with the American Le Mans Series, in the Grand Touring Challenge class.

Bret Curtis will once again be partnered with James Sofronas in the No. 32 GMG / Spectra Resources Porsche GT3 Cup, which will feature a full line of performance parts developed by Global Motorsports Group.

Curtis’ highlights include the 2011 Rolex 24, two second-place finishes in the 2010 ALMS season, secured at Long Beach and Mid-Ohio. All of this coming after his inaugural race in 2009, piloting a Porsche GT3 Cup, in the ALMS season finale at Laguna Seca, in which he finished fifth in the GT-Challenge class while driving with Sofronas. Curtis’ experience comes from stints in both the Patron GT3 Challenge as well as the Pirelli Drivers Cup.

Sofronas, a multiple race-winner in SCCA’s World Challenge, is considered one of the country’s premier Porsche drivers. The owner of GMG is also a veteran of several endurance races, including entries in the 2009 and 2011 Rolex 24 at Daytona, and is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the country’s premier endurance racing championship. James sees the 2011 season to be a very competitive year, and he has high hopes in securing the team’s first win, after finishing second, a 2010 season best, at both Long Beach and Mid-Ohio. His main focus is on the title and feels confident in his team’s ability to contend for the title.

Jan Seyffarth is the third driver in GMG’s stable. His vast and successful experience in Porsche Super Cup will add to the depth in GMG’s driver line up. His driving duties will be well utilized for the 12 Hours of Sebring.

“Our first season in the American Le Mans Series was very exciting for Bret, for myself, and for everyone at GMG,” said Sofronas. “We competed in the ALMS event at Laguna Seca, and as a driver and team owner it was a very good experience which ultimately led to our decision to compete in the series in 2010. For the drivers, it will be a great challenge, and will also allow us to further develop our line of performance parts for the Porsche 997.”

Curtis and Sofronas will take the wheel of the No.32 GMG / Spectra Resources Porsche GT3 Cup at the ALMS Sebring kickoff event March 17-19, 2011 with strong support from its sponsors, including Moton Shocks, Stoptech Brakes and BBS.
