Brad Adams and Team Coach Jim Daniels Join Atlanta Motorsports Group’s Pirelli World Challenge Effort With an All-New Ford Boss 302 Mustang in the GTS class

Brad Adams and Jim Daniels have been busy over the winter preparing new cars with a new team for the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class championship of 2012. After much deliberation, Atlanta Motorsports Group was chosen to field the new Ford Boss 302 Mustang in 2012. This new effort will also feature a Touring class entry with the introduction of Michael Cooper driving a MAZDASPEED3 for Atlanta Motorsports Group.

After a successful 2011 rookie session, Brad Adams decided to join the ranks of the new Ford Boss 302 Mustang drivers by building a ground up version of the championship winning vehicle. With help from Jim Daniels, 2011 GTS class “crew of the year” leader, and the hard working folks at Atlanta Motorsports Group, an outstandingly prepared Mustang is emerging.

The team is also fielding Brad’s old Ford 500S Mustang at select events to be determined at a later date.

Adams and the team start the 2012 championship at the opening round on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Florida on March 23rd. Both classed cars will compete for the full season and their respective championships.

“We had Jason Hoover [owner of Atlanta Motorsports Group] field one of our cars for a few races in 2011 to test the waters. We were happy with the results and professionalism and decided to proceed with his team for 2012. I am very excited about this new car and my new number, “car 54”. We hope to be on equal ground with the competition and see our result improve over last year. I think this is going to be a year to remember, one way or another,” said Brad Adams.

“I have known the guys at Atlanta Motorsports Group for a decade and Brad is a dear friend, I can’t think of a better group to race with. In fact, I have enjoyed driving for them myself in the past and know first hand their ability to win races. Tony and Jason run a tight ship and that environment will help my efforts coaching the team’s drivers. The new GTS Mustang will be the envy of the paddock and is the result of a tremendous collaboration with our vendors and the wonderful folks at Ford Racing. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a season where I was not driving, it’s going to be unreal!” said Daniels.

The 2012 Pirelli World Challenge sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing schedule consists of 12 GT/GTS, and 14 Touring Car races over eight weekends. Races will take place on a variety of circuits across the United States and Canada ranging from a street circuit in St. Petersburg, FL to the world-renowned Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California. Catch all the action on NBC Sports Network, formerly the Versus Channel.
