DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 26, 2010) – Matt Connolly said this week he has always felt having a car in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge would be a good addition to his racing stable. And that fit will come sooner than later, as MCM acquired a Mazda MX-5 from Freedom Autosport recently. Connolly said he plans to campaign the car the remainder of the 2010 season.

Connolly himself piloted a car in the Street Tuner class almost a decade ago before moving up to the GT championship in the Rolex Series. He said this acquisition will expand on the team’s recent efforts in the Rolex Series, which has shown success with multiple podium finishes.

“Being part of the Mazda racing family is very exciting, and MCM will no doubt play a key role in helping them in the constructor’s championship,” Connolly said. “ST is where I started in production car racing, and I’m glad to be back. The racing is always close and fortunes can turn very quickly. You never know who is going to win until they cross the finish line.”

Virginia natives Greg Shaffer and Ric Bushey are expected to drive the car at Barber Motorsports Park and Virginia International Raceway. Karim “Alex” Talbot will make his series debut at Lime Rock Park and will drive the remaining races thereafter. Four-time Spec Miata Brian Domont is also expected to compete.

“Everything has lined up very nicely for MCM and the team is looking forward to running at the front of an ultra competitive Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge field,” Connolly concluded.
