TOPEKA, Kan. – Morris Hamm will serve as the Chief Steward for the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series, the sanctioning body announced today. Hamm is a 40-year SCCA member with more than 25 years of stewarding experience.

The Santa Rosa, California resident will be responsible for the officiating of the 46-year-old Trans-Am Series. Hamm’s SCCA Pro Racing experience includes Chief Steward of the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup and its predecessor SCCA Pro Racing Mazda Miata Cup, and five years as the Assistant Chief Steward of the Pirelli World Challenge Championships.

“Morris has worked as a Steward with SCCA Pro Racing for a number of years, and will continue to do a great job with the Trans-Am Series,” Tom Campbell, SCCA Pro Racing President, said. “We’ve got the right steward in place to move the series forward in this transitional year.”

In addition to his years as a Club Racing Steward, Hamm also raced a Formula Vee. Outside of racing, Hamm is a Certified Public Accountant and is an accounting professor near his Northern California home.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge and the opportunity to work with the series and help to build it to a high level of success,” Hamm said. “A series with the history of Trans-Am is a big responsibility, and we’re looking forward to season’s start in May.”

The SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series dates back to its first season in 1966. Throughout the years, some of the greatest names in motorsports have participated in the Trans-Am Series. Backdating the Drivers’ Championship to the inaugural season, 30 different drivers took titles, with multiple Championships being won by Paul Gentilozzi, Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue, Scott Pruett, Wally Dallenbach Jr., George Follmer, Peter Gregg, Horst Kwech, Scott Sharp and Bob Tullius.

The iconic Trans-Am Series – America’s Road Racing Series – is operated by the Trans Am Race Company, LLC. Through a five-year agreement, the Trans Am Race Company manages the marketing rights to the series and is responsible for Trans-Am Series public relations and promotions. SCCA Pro Racing sanctions Trans-Am events and provides event operations services to the series.
