Cool Shirt® sponsors US GT and Whelen US TimeTrial championships.

Contingency to be awarded to top three finishers all year.
Champions to receive free complete Cool Shirt system.

Shafer Enterprises, the inventors of the world famous Cool Shirt® personal cooling systems, has entered a partnership with the North American Road Racing Association sponsoring two of its national series, the US GT Championship and Whelen US TimeTrial Championship.

For each event starting May 12-15 at Sebring International Raceway, Shafer Enterprises (Cool Shirt®) will be issuing “$100 Cool Shirt® Bucks” to each top three finisher for each of the three classes in both championships (18 drivers total).

Each “$100 Cool Shirt® Bucks” voucher will entitle those top three finishers $100 off any purchase of $300 or more on orders purchased direct from Shafer Enterprises.

Furthermore, the series class champions (six in total) will be awarded one of Cool Shirt’s ‘Club Systems’. Each system will be ‘complete’, including a cooling unit, hoses and shirt.

In turn NARRA will be providing Cool Shirt® broadcast exposure by way of its season long series webcast on, hosted by Tom Hnatiw, to be aired later this year.

The Cool Shirt® logo will feature on track signage and each car in both the US GT and Whelen US TimeTrial championships.

Tony Blackburn, VP of Sales and Marketing for Shafer Enterprises commented on the deal;

“We are very excited to be a part of these two series and I believe that our partnership will go a long way to improve driver safety during these events.”

Tom Hnatiw, the voice of the US GT and Whelen US TimeTrial championships added;

“It seems appropriate that Cool Shirt® and NARRA have come together. Cool Shirt® has been a long time supplier of high quality equipment to grassroots and professional motor sport drivers alike, and NARRA provides series for both- and for that matter, every one in between.

Furthermore, NARRA’s sole focus is on GT style production and performance cars where in-car cabin temperatures can rise to extreme levels. It’s the perfect environment for Cool Shirt® to showcase their technology, and spread awareness of the dangers and performance issues related to heat stress fatigue.

I know many of the competitors already use the CoolShirt® product, including USGTC racers Steve Loudin, John Tober and Jim Stout, and I’m sure Cool Shirt® will be gaining many more ambassadors for their product through the US GT road racing and Whelen US TimeTrial championships.”

The announcement comes only days after Hoosier Tire signed a contingency program with both championships.

The next round of each championship sees man and machine take on the might of Florida’s famed Sebring International Raceway on May 13-15.

The historic circuit will see a larger field of GT cars take to the track than even during its famous 12 Hours of Sebring event.

Due to the simple and open power-to-weight ratio rules in both the USGTC and Whelen USTTC spectators can expect to see a variety of marques including Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche, Lamborghini and Viper.

The event also features round one and two of the 2011 Dodge Viper Cup pro series, and the US Performance Driver Education program open to drivers of all performance street cars.
