LUHR LEADS FINAL PRACTICE; STIPPLER OFF TO FAST START

No. 2, 52 Set Pace for Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – It doesn’t appear that there were any lingering effects from Lucas Luhr’s crash during Friday’s opening practice session for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, as Luhr ran the fastest Daytona Prototype lap in practice on Saturday morning. Frank Stippler piloted his Audi to the fastest GT time.
Luhr turned a lap at 1:42.364 (119.573 mph) in the No. 2 Soloson Ford/Riley in the final practice session prior to qualifying scheduled for later this morning. Second quickest was Ozz Negri in the No. 60 LiveOn Ford/Riley at 1:42.462 (119.459 mph) followed by Joao Barbosa at 1:42.681 (119.204 mph) in the No. 9 Action Express Racing Corvette DP.
Participating in his first Rolex Series race weekend after driving in preseason tests at Daytona, Stippler posted a best lap at 1:50.968 (110.302 mph) in the No. 52 APR Tuned/Audi Sport Customer Racing Audi R8 GRAND-AM. Robin Liddell was second in GT at 1:51.022 (110.248 mph) in the No. 57 Stevenson Auto Group Chevrolet Camaro GT.R, and Dane Cameron filled out the GT top three at 1:51.054 (110.217 mph) in the No. 42 TheRaceSite.com Mazda RX-8.
There was one stoppage in the session for Ian Baas, who impacted the barrier at Turn 6 in the No. 51 APR Tuned/Motul/Parathyroid.com Audi R8 GRAND-SM. Baas was evaluated and released from the infield care center.
