Libra Radical-IES is official; Diaz, Gonzalez to PR1/Mathiasen; Pilet to Lizards

The grid for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge grew to 34 cars Friday with the addition of Libra Racing’s Radical SR9-IES to the LMP class. And in LMP Challenge, Luis Diaz and Ricardo Gonzalez will make their return to the Series driving PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports’ ORECA FLM09.

Libra Racing, owned by Ian Dawson, will debut the Radical-IES in competition. Andrew Prendeville is the primary driver with his teammate to be announced at a later day. The car will compete on Dunlop rubber and is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 powerplant built by IES Engineering.

The Diaz/Gonzalez pairing will make its first start in LMPC, a class that will race at Mid-Ohio for the first time. The duo competed in the first four rounds in GT Challenge, and Diaz returns to Mid-Ohio after winning in LMP2 last year for Acura with Adrian Fernandez. He also set the fastest LMP2 race lap.
