2012 Logson Group BRSCC Porsche 5 Silverstone
Following a long seven week summer break, this weekend, 28th / 29th July, sees the Logson Group Porsche Championship move into the second half of the season, at the home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone, on the 1.6 mile National circuit layout.
Last time out at Brands Hatch, a record twenty nine cars took to the grid, and what an impressive sight it was as they all streamed into Paddock Hill on the first lap. The Championship welcomed some fresh faces in all the classes. The full race Boxsters welcomed Swiss resident Paul Moraviec, Cliff Graham and Bafel Ahmed, whilst in the Boxster Production class Bernie Printy, made the long trip up from the West Country in his self-built Boxster. In the venerable Porsche 924 class, Richard Matthews made his track debut, whilst Hugh Peart made a welcome return to the Championship.
Following David Bearman’s double victory at Brands Hatch, the Boxster class now boasts four different winners this year, proving just how competitive things have become. As usual, the smart money this weekend must be on the previous winners – the aforementioned Bearman and Richard’s Styrin & Sykes – to add to their victory tallies. Gerry Taylor will unfortunately be absent from this weekend’s action, as the ex-British Cycling Champion is on Olympic duties, so this could bring Adam Croft into play for a podium position, as he becomes ever more comfortable with the 986 Boxster. Championship sponsor, Ian Loggie, should also be a serious threat to the front runners as he aims to make up for his Cadwell disappointment, and look out for the likes of Nick Hull, Arjo Ghosh, Mike Sellar, Guillaume Gruchet and Steve Boyles resuming their ever intense midfield battle!
