2011 UK Ford Fiesta Championship – Rounds 13 & 14 Lydden Hill
Round 13 Class A B and D
The first of the combined A B and D saw for the first time a full turnout from the classes as the all new Fiesta Zetec S was fielded by Daniels Motorsport and drivne by Pete Daniels. The car looked good as it lined up with the other regulars. The tight Lydden bends and an agile car played into the hands of Scott Baines as he swept into an impressive lead but was dogged by the terrier like attentions of Nik Barton. It was really great to watch as they drove for lap after lap of the one mile track. Class A regular Dave Elsom kept class A honest by holding a 3rd place overall. James Appleby and Kevin Stirling were also having a ding-dong battle. After 24 laps, the chequered flag greeted a victorious Scott Baines from Nik Barton and James Appleby (third in class B). Class A went to Dave Elsom with Ian Scruton and Vincent van Paemel making up the A podium.
Round 14 Class A B and D
The final race of the championship was an exciting one here at Lydden Hill. The fact that Scott Baines once again lead from start to finish was perhaps expected but the Daniels class D car came through the ranks and was leading on lap 14. Impressive stuff. This state of play continued until lap 22, and a fuel surge relegated the car back down the order and normal service was resumed by Baines. Elsom thwarted Barton but chequered flag was taken by Scott Baines(B) then D
