Chris Smith Racing captures their first top 5 in the Pirelli WC season finale
Braselton, GA – Driver Greg Liefooghe, pushed the Chris Smith Racing BMW E90 to a 5th place finish in the Pirelli World Challenge season finale at Road Atlanta. This was CSM’s second Pirelli World Challenge event of the season, having competed previously at the Mid Ohio event in August with Charlie Putman at the wheel. Mid Ohio was a double and Charlie finished in 8th place in both races.

“We encountered electrical issues in practice on Wednesday with the ABS system” quoted Chris Smith, Team owner of CSR. “It all came good in qualifying and Greg (Liefooghe) pushed hard to make up for the time lost in practice” said Chris.
Greg Liefooghe, who hails from San Francisco, is an accomplished driver and enjoyed his first time at Road Atlanta. Greg qualified the #65 BMW in 8th. He gained two positions on the (standing) start and soon found himself in 4th and held that position for most of the race. An ill advised move by another competitor in turn 1 allowed the 5th place car to pass on the uphill to 2. Shortly there after the caution flag was displayed and ultimately the race was over. “Greg made a fantastic start” said Steve Kibble, Team manager for CSR, “We knew our race pace would be very consistent through long runs as the Pirelli tires have proven durability. Greg ran a good, consistent race.”
