Mitchum Motorsports announces 2011 plans

Mitchum Motorsports Returns to Rolex Series
Atterbury and von Moltke to Share GT Porsche at Continental Tire Test at VIR

Virginia Beach, VA (October 18, 2010) – Mitchum Motorsports returns to the GRAND-AM Rolex Series with the #86 Porsche 997 this week where drivers Joey Atterbury and Dion von Moltke will be participating in the Continental Tire test days at Virginia International Raceway. After a successful season campaigning the #6.2 Camaro in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge where Atterbury was the highest finishing GS driver in the Rookie of Year standings, Mitchum is expanding its driver development program.

“I am excited to continue to build our driver development program with the addition of the Rolex GT Series Porsche” said team principal Chris Mitchum. “Joey really proved himself in the Camaro this year so it is only natural to begin the transition into Rolex competition. We’ll be running a full season in Continental Tire Sport Car Challenge in the Camaro again plus several Rolex Series races in the Porsche – it’s going to be a full season for Joey and the team.”

“Dion co-drove with Joey at Lime Rock this year and they made a great combination. He is a true professional with tons of experience in the Rolex series. Not only is he great behind the wheel but Dion’s experience working with engineers will go a long way in helping us sort out the new car”, added Mitchum.

Atterbury has been busy since the final race of the Continental Tire season at Miller Motorsports Park in early September where he recorded another top ten finish, staying fit and preparing to move across the country from the Seattle area to Virginia so he can be closer to the team’s brand new facility in Virginia Beach. “I am excited to get back in the Porsche this week. We did a test earlier this year and the car was fantastic right out of the box, Porsche really knows how to build a racecar. With the new tires from Continental and Dion sharing the car I hope to learn a lot about the car and especially setup”, said Atterbury.

In preparation for the 2011 season Mitchum Motorsports will also be attending the test days at Homestead in December.
