Pro SRF and Pro Formula Enterprises Will Not Return in 2012

TOPEKA, Kan. – SCCA Pro Racing announced today that the SCCA Pro Racing Spec Racer Ford and Pro Formula Enterprises race series would not return in 2012.

“We appreciate the efforts of the drivers, teams and staff that have been a part of the Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprises Pro series over the past two seasons,” said Tom Campbell, SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO. “The quality of the cars and drivers was excellent and there was always good racing on the track. I want to especially acknowledge the outstanding effort by Scott Rettich who was the champion in both series this year. We have all tried to find a way to make these series viable into the future but the current motorsports marketplace cannot continue to support them. Both of these classes continue to have a place in SCCA Club Racing and we are pleased to see that another Pro series is going to incorporate the FE cars for next year.”

“I would like add my sincerest thanks to Tom Campbell and the entire SCCA Pro staff for their dedication and efforts,” said Erik Skirmants, President of SCCA Enterprises. “I know we had fun, built great camaraderie, and even some momentum for the future; however, both SCCA Pro and SCCA Enterprises have to operate independently and profitably and these series failed to meet needed objectives for both companies.”
