Peter Keane
Peter Keane also known as “Special K” or “The Crip” has been around professional and armature road racing since 1988. Currently he is a member of the Spirit of Daytona, Grand Am Rolex, Daytona Prototype team. Recently, Peter has served on the SCCA CRB and on several of the advisory committees.
Peter started his road racing career as a crew member for Randy Pobst and went on to crew for TC Kline Racing and Spirit of Daytona. He has been with SOD since their inception. He has held several positions with Spirit of Daytona racing, including team manager, crew chief, engineer, strategist, and spotter.
Peter was placed on the SCCA Improved Touring Advisory Committee in 2003 and promoted to the CRB in 2006. Due to an unfortunate situation with an SCCA member, he was removed from the CRB at the end 2009. He was place on SCCA advisory committees in 2010 and received the nick name “Special K”.
As a driver, he started out Auto crossing and progressed to road racing. Peter won the 1989 Florida state championship and was undefeated in H Stock competition in 1990. Peter received his SCCA regional road racing license in 1990 and won his first regional race at Memphis Motorsports Park. He has multiple top five finishes in SCCA National and Regional road racing, and has set several track records.
Involved in a motorcycle accident in 2001, Peter became a T3 paraplegic. Besides racing, Peter’s interest include raising his daughter Erin, boating, fishing and four wheeling.
