Mexican driver Juan Pablo Garcia will race a full season in Firestone Indy Lights with Jensen MotorSport, team officials announced on Dec. 16.

Garcia, who has raced in A1GP, British F3 and Eurocup, will join Canadian rookie David Ostella in the team’s planned two-car lineup.

“Juan Pablo is a terrific addition to our Indy Lights program,” Jensen MotorSport team owner Eric Jensen said. “Juan Pablo has experience in the series and with the Indy Lights car, including a strong sixth-place finish at Infineon Raceway during the 2010 season. Having confirmed his program early, Juan Pablo will definitely benefit from extensive pre-season testing to challenge for a pole and podium at the first race of the 2011 season at St. Petersburg, Florida in March.”
Garcia made three Firestone Indy Lights starts for Michael Crawford Motorsports over the last two seasons. He will reunite with Michael Crawford, who recently joined Jensen MotorSport in a management position.

“I’ve already worked with (Michael) the past two years. This makes me feel very confident since I’ve always felt very pleased with his feedback and work,” Garcia said. “Eric (Jensen) certainly has put together a good team with an interesting pre-season program that will be very important for my learning curve.”

Garcia said joining Jensen MotorSport will help keep momentum in his career while driving for a team that can offer him a solid ride in the very competitive Firestone Indy Lights series.

“I’m delighted to return to American open-wheel racing, after signing with Jensen MotorSport to compete again in Indy Lights,” Garcia said. “I am very grateful to my sponsors Freightliner, Mapfre and Eucomex for their continue support. My first race with Jensen MotorSport will be on a street circuit (St. Petersburg, Florida), and I’m really looking forward to it.”
